Its a slow month for business, but a great time to fish here in Naples. Tarpon are my favorite fish, so when I get to fish thats what I target. Tarpon fishing is more like hunting, you have to find them first and sometimes stay put long enough to get a good cast at one. The last two days have been the opposite, although today there were no tarpon at the first spot that had good numbers. I have been getting on the water before 6am and getting 8-12in silver mullet for bait. The best tarpon fishing occurs from 615 till about 830am. Yesterday I jumped two fish about 80lbs before 7am and then they were gone. Today we didnt find them till about 715 and we jumped 6 fish in less than an hour. We must of had 10-12 fish blow up on the mullet. I landed one about 80lbs and jumped three others over 100lbs. My good friend Tony hooked two and his fish were right around 100lbs. We were back at the dock at 9am to beat the heat.
