Naples Fishing Report 8/30/10

The weather seems to have a different feeling these days with winds
from a northerly direction. The days are getting shorter and it
doesn't feel quite as hot out. The rain has been bad the last three
days in the afternoon, which postponed my trip today. I had a feeling
the tarpon were going to start showing up as the bait out off the
beaches is everywhere small glass minnows, big threads, ladyfish and
mackeral. So I waited for the rain to let up to look for tarpon, and I
found plenty right away. They were everywhere and after throwing a DOA
baitbuster at about ten fish I swithed over to a big live thread. It
only took one cast and this 80lb fish inhaled it. I called it a night
and was back at the dock by 715.
The snook fishing has still been the main focus with redfish
scattered in the mix. Afternoons have been great as you can fish for
snook and redfish for 2hrs and then go look for tarpon. If you want
to get out and catch some tarpon, snook and redfish give me a call 239-404-6255
. The fishing is only going to get better over the next three months.
