Fishing After a Big Cold Front 12/23/12

Today I fished with a great angler 18yr old Jordan who I have fished with for the last five years. Arriving at the boat ramp this morning water temps were 64 down 12 degrees since Thursday. Our plan was to throw jerkbaits and topwaters for snook and jacks in an area that I knew would have warmer water. Arriving at our spot we found some huge 20+lb jacks that we couldn't get to eat. We had great action on jerkbaits with jacks to 7lbs and this nice 10lb snook. We changed things up as the sun got higher and went to some docks that were red hot prior to the cold front. We fished live shrimp and caught a small tarpon, 12 snook and a nice 5lb redfish. We decided to go out in the gulf to see if we could net some pilchards and find some trout. The pilchards were on the spot, but the water was still cloudy due to the nw winds the last few days. We went back inside and caught more snook on pilchards. Over all it was a very successful day considering how cold it's been the last few days and its Winter and we are still catching snook and tarpon. Weather is warming and the fish should be hungry this week. Tight lines
