Naples Inshore Fishing Report 1/24/13

It's almost February and we still haven't got any really cold weather down here. Most days are 76-83 with mornings ranging from 55-65. This is great weather for fishing, but can be tricky to go catching. Yes I'm having some great days and I'm having some days that aren't record breakers. The problem is normally water temps are cooler and we mainly focus on trout, pompano, black drum and redfish in deeper creeks and holes. When it's warm like this year the fish are scattered as they feel the urge to hunt for food instead of hunkering down and waiting for it to come to them. I have been throwing a good mixture of live pilchards, tube jigs and DOA Cal shad tails on 1/4oz jig heads. In the back the trout can be caught excellent one day and only a few the next, pompano made a strong showing the last few mornings and snook and jacks are still strong around the docks . The key to catching fish right now is to move around and if one method isn't producing switch it up. Till next time tight lines
